A Day in the Life of a Child Model

Kids modeling is a world that not many people know about. You see the ads in stores or watch the commercials, but what do those kids go through on a daily basis when they’re working? It’s a day spent getting from place to place, making sure they are on time for their audition, and trying to book projects. Morning Routine
First thing is making sure that your child is awake and ready for the day. You’ll usually be up before 7am due to early call times on jobs and auditions. Once awake, they’ll get ready to go while breakfast is being made. Breakfast is an essential part of the day because they may be working long hours, so they’ll need all the energy they can get.
Driving to the Venue
Whether it be for a job or an audition, they’ll need to be driven to the venue which will normally be in Los Angeles. The key is to get there early, you do not want to have any issues with finding the right person to talk to or getting to the right location. If you have to drive far then it might be a good idea to bring along some snacks or entertainment since you’ll need to keep your little model awake and energized.
Getting Ready to Shoot
Once you arrive at the location, child models will often need to go to hair and makeup in order to get ready for the shoot. This is the part where they can sit back, and feel like a model. They’ll have their makeup put on by a professional and their hair done by a stylist. This can be the time where parents can relax and wait while their kid gets ready.
Work Time
Then the job will begin. Kids modeling jobs should be expected to last up to 5 hours or more depending on the type of work that’s being done. They’ll have some break times so they’ll need plenty of food and water to keep them ready for long hours. Usually in the break they’ll be able to play some games in order to keep their minds fresh for the next scene or outfit change.
School
Classwork is different for child models due to the hours they work. They’ll usually have packets of work to do from their school so they can keep up with the class while they are out. If the child is a serious working model that has weekly bookings, they may even have a tutor that works with them while they are on set. This is part of their daily life since they have to continue with their school work, while they are working as models.
