Why a Positive Attitude is the Only Skill Your Child Model Needs

A positive attitude makes everything better. It allows you to do things you’ve never been able to do before, and improve your skills in something you are already working on. Being a child model is hard work, and it’s even harder work when you come at it with a negative attitude. Smiling and being happy add a lot to your work and how you feel about your work. Coming to any job with a go-get-it attitude adds so much value and will give you the right mindset to finish the day strong. As a child model it can be easy to get discouraged but just keep that chin up and you’ll see how much better the day feels.

Staying Positive

Now this one seems too obvious but it’s true, if you simply continue to say that mantra over and over when things get tough, eventually your kid model will feel it. They need to walk into their day happy to be there and happy with everything that’s happening. Sure, child modeling agencies are constantly calling, and the director is tough, but they get to models before they even go to science class. As long as they can keep a positive attitude, nothing can get in their way.

Little Wins

When your teen’s day isn’t going great, they are going to need some support. One way you can do this by celebrating the little positive developments that happen throughout the day. Remind them how they go to all their auditions on time and how good that looks for casting directors. You can also bring up how well they did in the last job and how the photographer said they loved how they work. These things give confidence to a child and will allow them to see modeling in a more positive light.

Positive Reinforcement

While they are working, instead of telling them what they are doing wrong, always tell them what they are doing right. This will drastically improve their skills and their overall feelings of being a model. It will motivate them in the right direction so that they become the best model they can be. If you’re always a negative nancy, they will see modeling as a chore and something they can never be good at. The more positive reinforcement you give the more likely they will see modeling in a positive way and want to stick with it longer.

Check In

Sometimes in our all too busy lives we forget to have meaningful check-ins with those we care about. Make sure to carve out an hour or so to have a chat with your child and see how they are feeling. You’ll be surprised at what you learn and at how much it helps them connect with you. They will feel more comfortable and confident in life knowing that they have you as a support system. This will allow them to see everything with more positivity.

Having the right attitude will always benefit your child in their modeling career, it’s that simple. We all know how much better things feel when we go at them with optimism, so keep your child thinking positive and they’ll take over the modeling world! With our suggestions, they’ll be looking at a long and successful road ahead of them, hopefully at Southern California’s premier boutique children’s modeling agency, Bensimon Models & Talent!
