Now that we are breezing through 2023 — only a few months away from 2024 actually — let’s take a look at the top style trends this year gave us. We’re going to focus on what we do best: having an eye for style, and a talent for child modeling. That’s why we took time to compile a list of the top kids style trends of the year. Every year you get similar items that fly off shelves: handbags, jeans, skirts, etc. But this year we have a bunch of new styles that child models should be paying attention to. The more your child model stays trendy, the likelier they are to be booked, because casting directors love a child at the forefront of fashion.
We love the kids styles that came from this year so far, and we believe that this is the ultimate list to keep your child model on top of the game. Without further ado, let’s get into it, and you can see if a shopping spree is in your near future.
Pastels
Sometimes bright colors are all the rage, but this year pastels have made a huge comeback. Especially in the summer, pale colors are hitting the streets due to their simplicity. Minimalism has been a trend for a while, and pastels fit perfectly into this mentality. Less is more with color this year, so make sure you aren’t caught wearing highlighter yellow anymore.
Eco-Friendly Attire
The world is changing, and everyone is becoming more conscious about the environment and our effect on it. It’s no surprise that fashion houses would do the same. Although it’s not necessarily obvious at first look, everyone loves to discuss how their new shirt is actually made from recycled linens, or even accessories that are made from reused plastic.
Vintage
We could probably have this on our list every year for kids' style trends, but vintage and retro clothing will always be in the mix. People love the idea of going back in time; that’s one of the many reasons why vintage clothing is always sought after. Take a look at old magazines or even your old yearbook to get ideas for your child models' retro outfits.
Ath-leisure
Lululemon, Athleta and Vuori are the big brands that have made waves in the athleisure space. It started a couple years ago, but this year it has really picked up speed. You can find all the celebrities in the tabloids walking around in their yoga pants with a sporty top on, or bike shorts with an oversized button up. We definitely don’t see this style going away anytime soon because of how comfortable and cute the combinations can be.
Bold Prints
While pastels pushed ahead of bright colors, the prints on the shirts are now bolder than ever. Huge letters, colorful patterns, or even hypnotic images can be seen on clothing all over. It is reminiscent of the hippie era style, but it is making a huge comeback. This might fit into the retro style but there are modern brands that are incorporating this into their lineups this year.
Monochrome
You can never go wrong with a little black and white. We’ve seen dresses that are black with white sleeves, or a full white outfit with black shoes. These colors will always compliment each other, and everyone looks fresh and clean when wearing them.
Statement Pieces
Usually when discussing statement clothing, we think of someone wearing an all white dress with bright purple shiny shoes. While yes this is still continuing, we are even seeing it with jackets. Take a normal look (white t-shirt, blue jeans, and converse), add a bright red or green jacket, and the style points go up exponentially.
Accessories
This has been the year to accessorize. We see more and more boys wearing necklaces, rings, and bracelets than ever before. And there are even more options for girls like hair clips, toe nail rings, and even upper arm bracelets. It has become the trend of the year to leave the house wearing some kind of accessory to accentuate your style, and we think it’s only going to get bigger and bolder!
